    Sourcing Tarpon

A mate wants to stock his big & deep dam with Tarpon & barra for fly fun.
The barra shouldn't be a problem, but I cant find anyone who stocks / breeeds Tarpon.
    Anyone got any ideas?

    Re: Sourcing Tarpon

To the best of my knowlege nobody has ever bred Oz tarpon. I've been told by researchers that they will be close to impossible to successfully artificially breed / grow them.
Barra are readily available, ask you local pet shop.

    Cheers,

    Between Brisbane & Caboolture + about 20 K west.
I was concerned by the chill, but he assures me in places its 12m deep, I reckon that'll be enough Thermal Mass to get through the cool nights.
Sorry to be vague but I'd be a dead man if he found out I'd spilt beans.

So it's a stealth relocation job eh?
He'd have as much chance of flying to the moon as getting a permit to relocate a species out of their 'traditional catchment', for such juvenile reasons as a bit of sport.

One place i know of that has stocks of wild tarpon yr round are the lagoons near beachmere. Maybe a translocation might work. I don't think I've every heard of tarpon for sale or ever heard mention of fingerlings either.
