Thread: Where is the deepest part of Moreton Bay?

Where is the deepest part of Moreton Bay?

I want to see how my sounder is reading with deeper waters and would like to know where the deepest part of the bay is for a quick check.
In deep fresh water it is giving a lot of interference nearer the bottom below what looks like 3 thermoclines. I am starting to suspect it is double processing signals or something.

Going east, the bay floor slopes downwards towards Moreton Island reaching about 30m over near Moreton.

Probably the shipping channel between Tangalooma and Comboyuro Point. The rest of the bay usually ranges beteen 6 and 10 metres

    G'day

If on the southern bay, there's a 20M hole on the sou western corner of macley island.

Apart from that... there's some deep patches up the rainbow channel and of course in the river.

The swing basin south of the river leads to Shark Spit is probably the deepest inside the Bay

    Tunaticer,

Just checked the maps, this is the deepest hole in the bay, at low tide it is 36 meters deep.

Had a look at my chart too. It shows a sounding of 38 metres just north of Cowan Point
