If it was a 'faulty batch' take it back and demand replacement, that should have happened in the first place by the supplier !!! Warranties are for problems that may occur in the warranty period, faulty products get replaced.
Guess there has to be a lemon every now and then , but you would think if its a known problem they would replace it....
What is the problem? I have one that doesn't disengage from baitrunner to normal drag with a turn of the handle. Have to flick the lever over.
When you wind the handle under any pressure the spool just spins-like in baitfeeder mode. Also every couple of turns of the handle it seems to be meshing into something. They are a brilliant reel when working fine so i don't want to put it in the cupboard and forget about it.

Problem found
the retainer clip has come a drift or snapped in half.
I spoke to a Micheal at Kawana bait and tackle and he sussed it out and i found the broken clip but only 1/2 of it. So i wounder where the rest is? Never mind i'll be taking it up there for a service and fix.

-Spiro-, how come the 'shop' couldn't find the problem and recon it was faulty? .
What shop was it? because they should have sent it back to Shimano who would have fixed the problem .
Two answers to 2 sort of questions/comments. 1. shimano will not credit reels, only fix them
2. the baitfeeder lever not clicking over is fairly common, basically uve worn it out its a small 'lug' on the shaft of the crown and pinion that id say uve worn down.
Say gday to michael for me when ur in next spiro, top bloke
cheers
GPB the owner of the shop has now gone and dealing with another bloke. The original owner saw the problem and replaced the clip under warrenty. Maybe somethings worn a bit thats why it's gone again, who knows. But i will give it to this bloke and see what the result is. You got to remember i use this reel every trip out to the banks proberly every 3 weeks over a year. So it gets a bit of use.

Landlubber,
My reel which doesn't flick over to normal drag from baitrunner with a turn of the handle is brand new.
Spiro,
As discussed over the phone these reel are very simple, wear and tear is the biggest fault on any reel and i do not mean abuse by the owner, with the graphite bodies and the internal metal components it does not take a rocket scientist to work out which one will wear first, I have been in the tackle industry for over 20 years and i hear the same statment for nearly every reel that there was a bad batch or a factory fault, i personaly would not listen to that, yes it does happen but very rare, that is what a waranty is for, see you at the shop Spiro and we will sort it out.
Micheal
Land -Lubber,
Thanks for the comment, see you in the shop.
Micheal.
