40LB Braid to 80LB leader
Hello
Recently, at a lure casting session at Peter Faust Dam I used 40 LB braid with a thicker 80 LB leader material. These 2 lines were joined using an improved albright knot.
The improved albright knot was 'slamming' into the tip guide constantly, causing the knot to eventually unravel.
Does anyone have any quality knots that stay slim?
Are there any techniques which improve the knot strength? ( e.g A coating for the knot )
Thanks

I use a bimini and then a braid leader knot (courtesy of Geoff Wilson's book). You have to wrap your hand up in a tea towel or something to grip the braid safely so you can pull up the knot tight enough to "set" the knot. Once this is done, you can trim the tag very close. If you don't "set" the knot, you may find the knot pull apart at a most inconvenient time!!! Seems to work ok for me.
