    Re: A week at Awoonga

Still on hollidays and not spending much time on the net as yet.

As Darryl said 10 of us up there, 6 from Brisbane SFC, two from Bundy SFC and two visitors. I don't have the final numbers on total fish caught as yet, but I believe it will be around 150-200 barra for the week, and around 30-40 over 1m.

I caught 13 myself with my biggest 101 cm and 15.5 kg, and my fishing buddy Roy got 19. All fish were taken trolling. Great weather and sensational fishing. Would be great to have a go at casting next time.

Good to meet up with Awoonga and have a chat.

Haven't seen the results of the barra tour comp yet, but that will be interesting.

I have a few photos, but it will be a few days before I have time to post them.

were going down 16-19 Jan....a little one would do me....cause it would be a first for this ex Tasmanian...guess they dont compare to a 5 pound Brown trout.

but maybe not as good as a 75 pound Bluefin Tuna

Thanks Darryl for posting the pics. Must get a digital camera myself. Ended up with 8 barra to 103 for the 3 days. Totaly stoked after previous fishless trips if you don't count fish with wishkas. Pleased boat went well after dramas early on in the week.

Am still on hols this week and have had a couple trips in the saltwater. Highlights have been a nice northern blue of 7.8 kg on 4 out the front of north entrance and good size buck from the Callopie that went down well for tea with some fresh bread.

Hope to get back out the dam tomorrow arvo, will post how I went.

    Smithy,
Advertising bill is in the mail.

    CQ-Hornet,
Only a new member, but hpoe to get some Ausfish stickers for the boat soon.

Fished Awonga on Friday night for 6 fish up to 75, very quiet till moon come up. Saw some larger fish caught. Quite a few boats on the water including some without lights after dark. Maybe they will get some before some unfortunate boat runs them down.
