    Save a Graphite Rod???

    Here's a sad story.

A couple of weekends ago I was getting my spin rod out of the back of my ute when I accidently jaamed the tip into the side of it. After a bit of a snap (not a sound you like to hear!) I lost about 3 inches off the top of the rod.

The rod is a Berkley Fireflex and at the moment I've just whacked one of those k-mart "sensi-tips" on the top of it to use a a bait rod for whiting and bream. Is this the future for one of my favourite light rods, or is their some way to fix a graphite rod and still keep the same action???

Any tips other than "mate, stick a point on it and use it as a spear" (as one of my mates suggested) appreciated......it might remain the little bait rod from here on in!

    Cheers,
    Finnie

    I'm afraid so!!
I have been building rods for around 20yrs, and haven't found a convincing way to repair this type of break.
If the tip break was 7-8 inches, you could try a fine solid glass insert, like that off a nibble tip.
The pain will go with the purchase of a new one.
    Good Fishing.

    Doh!!!!

Ahhh well, only myself to blame and so I'll suffer in silence (until I get a new one).

    Thanks for the help.

    Cheers,
