as i'm new to fishing i was just wondering what everyones favotite fishing gear is to use set ups ,hooks , line ,spots and time , what is it that makes it good for you ?

thats a very open ended question, a few more details on the type of fish you want to catch and landbased or boat
i am sure every body will try and help with some more detail

the way i buy my gear is look at how much i have to spend and keep to the budget buy the best you can afford . if you can wait buy the best rod one month and the reel the next or buy an outfit that suits your needs

Like blaze said, how long is a piece of string, i have a budget outfit that catches whiting to 40 kg marlin, different reel, lol. I use it from a 10 foot tinnie for bream, a jetty for whiting, use it for catching livies, and put a livie out on it or float a pillie. the rod was only $40 and 3.4 mtr. the reels very from small to big. hope this helps. btw the marlin were an accident was fishing for snapper.
