Thread: down rigger finished

    Re: down rigger finished

    hey snappa
the dia of the cable on the spool is approx120ml,the actual spool dia is alot bigger but dosent count for anything cause the cable only 1/4 fills it.the handle length is 100ml centre to centre.it dosent have any gears and winds up very easily.should point out that the sports troll is only rated to a 6lb bomb.bomb and cable sizes work on the same principles as fishing lines n sinkers. If you use to thicker cable the water resistance on the cable will force you to use a bigger bomb to keep the thing close to vertical.dont give up on your first dr yet.you could try putting thinner wire or braid on it to cut the resistance down then you can use a lighter bomb.you might also be able to fit a handle on it to give you some leverage.
the big winches are great if youve got one to chop n weld.glind ,another ausfish member made a pearler last year it even fitted with a cannon line counter ,so his does everything a bought one does but i reccon it would owe him about $ioo including bomb n clip.
i reccon if your gonna buy one from a shop do yourself a favor and get a cannon i dont reccon anything else comes close and as always you get what you pay for.
    good luck scott

    The bomb making bench.

You'll note the shaped aerosol can that is used as a mould. The 100 year old kettle for the lead ( great pouring capalities ).

    Gloves, multigrips etc.

You must position the top ring so that it is arse heavy for tracking ability.
