Re: Live fibre rods for red
Tim...a bream rod would be fine for the size of fish you catch mate..;);D
Seriously though I snapped 2 x10-15kg shimano backbone rods in the past year fishing for Reds...
With the tyrnos and 80lb braid , getting sharked and then locking the drag right up and holding on to try and snap the line at the leader knot unfortunately the rods did not survive...
Thats one of the reasons why we have moved to the deck winchs for deeper water red fishing...

Too old for deck winches, the next purchase is an electric reel

The electrics just look too passive Tim..
Too old..?...maybe less time on the keg and more in the gym ...;)
Re: Live fibre rods for red
Tim, I run an Jigging Master Ocean God PE 3-6 (red in colour) with the Talica 12. It will knock over any red and is also light.
I prefer the reel seat to be higher up than on Live fibre stroker rods for laying the line and leverage.
The rod will fish up to 20oz lead no worries.
Before this combo I had a Tyrnos and the stroker, chalk and cheese..
