Updated Qld Fish ID Chart offer... MINOR CORRECTION
Howdy fellow Ausfishers,
I am considering updating the Fish ID CHart that I have previously made available.
Once again I am confounded by not being able to link to my previous thread, but it should not be hard to find.
I am 99.99% confident in the updates I have made BUT I cannot find any information about the need to clip pectoral fins.
Can someone please tell me whether it is still required, because I don't want to put out an update that's obviously incorrect in that regard.
Also, I would also like to hear from those who already have a copy of the ID Chart on whether it's been useful or not. A 'quick reply' would be good.
If I can resolve the question about clipping fins I will try to make the updated chart more easily available on-line.
Cheers,
Steve

OK, so here's the link to the file...
I've put a yellow stripe down the centre of each page as a visual difference to the older version.
https://hotfile.com/dl/160716594/543...ruary_2012.pdf
A few quick instructions...
1. Print double-sided on thin card
2. Trim about 3mm off each edge
3. Laminate
4. Go fishing!!!

TUSKFISH are included in the Reef Fin Fish category...
Thanks to Beastmaster for pointing this out. I've corrected and reloaded the file BUT you can just add a red "F" to the Tuskfish (with a Nikko pen) if you don't want to re-print and laminate. Cheers, Steve

Re: Updated Qld Fish ID Chart offer...
I also like how you have defined the difference in species by just showing the different markings i.e. flatties

Re: Updated Qld Fish ID Chart offer...
Thanks Steve...Fantastic mate.

Re: Updated Qld Fish ID Chart offer...
G'day
Thanx for the PDF, looks good.
Just a tip for those with smartphones, you can download a free adobe app that will let you view PDF files on our smartphones. Save this file to there and there's no need for print and laminate copies.

Re: Updated Qld Fish ID Chart offer...
Thanks Steve, I'm very impressed ! ps I'm pretty sure Tuskfish are part of the coral reef fin fishery u may need to check that one, and add an F to your file.

Re: Updated Qld Fish ID Chart offer...
Thanks Beastmaster,
You're right - it was tucked away on the second page of the table under "Wrasse Exceptions" - of course...how did I miss that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I've amended the link on the first page, but here it is again https://hotfile.com/dl/161080843/db7..._2012.pdf.html
Sorry about the correction fellas - If you don't want to re-print etc. just put a red "F" next to the Tuskfish with a Nikko pen.
Regards,
Steve

Re: Updated Qld Fish ID Chart offer...
Great job!
Not to look a gift horse in the mouth, so please take this only as feedback...
Be good to see the reefies like Coral Trout, Red Emporer etc on it.
What about no take species ??
Probably just as important to know.

No worries Owen,
I reckon if you can't handle some feedback, it's best not to play!!!
In my original thread (I think it was in 2010) I gave a bit of an explanation about the chart's origins.
I really started it so that I had a ready reference for the stuff I was either likely to catch, or dreamed of maybe catching one day - in SEQ.
I suppose if there was enough interest I could expand it to another double-sided page, or even one in A3.
Anyway, I hope this at least gives you an idea why it's not a comprehensive guide.
Best regards,
Steve

Re: Updated Qld Fish ID Chart offer...
Commendable work!
You can also go to http://www.daff.qld.gov.au/documents...-waters-A4.pdf and download this to your smartphone as a pdf. You then can have the full info of all fish size and take limits tidal waters. You can go to the web site as well and get the fresh water one. I find it handy at times on the sea when trying to remember so many details of particular species.
Cheers

Re: Updated Qld Fish ID Chart offer...
Hello fellow Ausfishers, though I don't post anymore, and must say I don't really fish anymore, I'm back in a position to at least update the ID chart.
A reasonably thorough look over the old chart (circa 2012) revealed no changes to the bag limits or legal sizes. I have updated a few of the images to better quality ones that are now available.
Now that the file can be used electronically, as opposed to printing and laminating, I can expand the chart to include more species.
I WOULD LIKE TO HEAR FROM AUSFISHERS ABOUT WHICH SPECIES, IF ANY, YOU WOULD LIKE INCLUDED.
The current page layout allows for 18 types to be displayed, so I don't think volume will be an issue.
PLEASE POST HERE WHAT YOU WOULD LIKE AND I'LL DO MY BEST TO ACCOMMODATE YOUR REQUESTS.
Cheers, Steve.
