Re: Cairns area - saltwater.
went out a couple of weeks ago. Northerlies were on and it was pretty low (4-5 knots). Not much happening. Few fish but real hard work. Feburary has always been a pretty ordinary month. I have a mate who keeps records of his trips and Feb is always the lowest haul month. We were fishing 60-70m overnight.

January, February, March has always been very hard to get a feed in FNQ. All good prime bottom fish has stopped spawning and the very warm water temp turns good fish lethargic. Jigging 5 inch shads can fire up schools this time of year if nothing is working but only getting a few on drifts.
