Had a look down at Harold Kelly Park on Bald Hills Creek for the feral Tilapia today. Some real horses in there, 24 busted. Biggest was 43cm.
We catch these using light fishing rods with garden worms on small hooks suspended about 20cm under a float.
Quote from DPI Fisheries Dept QLD.
"Tilapia are restricted noxious fish under the Biosecurity Act 2014. They must not be kept, fed, given away, sold, or released into the environment. If caught, tilapia must be humanely destroyed immediately and disposed of as soon as practicable by burying a suitable distance from the waterway where it was caught or placing it in a rubbish bin"
See fact sheet here - https://www.daf.qld.gov.au/…/123…/IPA-Tilapia-Fact-Sheet.pdf
EDIT - Signs say not currently allowed to fish here but I am in talks with BCC about this area and why fisherman are discriminated against and to see if the signage is legal.
