Does anyone know if the latest TLD`s are made in Japan still,
or are made in Malasia like the Toriums? Also, does anyone know of a site where I can view SHIMANO reels exploded views. Thanks

Reggy,

I buy all my reels from an online seller in Malaysia... Very cheap and are in your hands within 4 working days.. upto a third of the price cheaper.

All Shimano reels are made in there factory in Malaysia.

PM me if you want anymore details about buying them. Any make from the baitrunners, TLDs and the toriums..... Great reels

Thanks for the replies fellers. When I got my Torium20 there
was no parts list/exploded view in the box. I am looking for a website where I can view and printout a copy of same.
Thanks, Reggy

Hello boys,

There seems to be a little confusion,

He has an online shop on Ebay, his name is MinstorTackle. He may be hard to find, below is his online shop,

http://search.stores.ebay.com/search/search.dll?GetResult&sid=76460442&query=minstor+tackle&fp=0&srchdesc=y

If you send him a message he will get back to you with prices and shipping costs

He is very good and you have the reels in you hand in under a week.

I bought 4 baitrunners 6500B three weeks ago for $190AUS Cheap....

Let me know if there are problems

Have any of you seen the AUS $, It is above US$0.75, so buying these reels in US$ makes them very cheap.

This is no bullshit, he is very cheap and very good to deal with.

PM if anyone wants to ask any questions...

If all you blokes want to know how to convert US to AUS $.

You divide the US$ amount / current exchange rate. e.g US$128/$0.75 = $170.66 AUS$ (That was the Shimano Baitrunner 6500B Price)

All the best

Dominic,

you paid $190 each for 4 baitrunners. Are you saying that baitrunners cost $570 each in Australia [smiley=huh2.gif] [smiley=huh2.gif] (1/3 the price).

They are available in Australia for $229 and compared to $190 I think I'd rather have the security of a 10 year warranty.

Tony,

The reels were about $175, and the postage was $15

$39 for a warranty is worth it, reels aren't invincible. My rear drag aero-bait runner shat itself and i was considering fixing it myself but one i saw a diagram of the damn parts in the rear drag system i almost choked. Good for the warranty #;D It wouldve cost me $60 to get the guy at the local store to fix them. But it only took shimano 6 weeks :o

I don't want any of you boys to carry on about it,

i was just offering some insight into some cheaper reels,

At that rate you can buy them for the same price with 10 year warranty, from the
mart-that takes 10% off everyone elses prices!!!
In your hand same day, no risk of a problem.

I thought I should post my experiences buying reels from ebay here.

Two weeks ago I purchased a second hand Trinidad 20 from the states on ebay. I won the auction, made quick payment and had the reel on my door 5days later. It cost me $390AUD including postage. This worked out to be approx a $200-$250 saving.
I have just gone a purchased a drag upgrade for this reel on ebay for $20US including postage which should be on the door step next week.

So far so good. I think this reel retails for $600 + dollars in Oz

To answer the original question, I think you will find that the drop in price coincided with them being shipped from Malaysia.
I bought a TLD 20 about 1 day after they dropped from ? MART and it was built in Malaysia..
There are exploded views under the Service Diagram link on this page. http://fish.shimano.com/publish/content/us/en/fishing/products/reels/reels_saltwater_conventional/tld/tld20.html
