Hey all :)

Im getting into SPs and I got myself a Shimano SS squidgy spin 70 and a Shimano stradic 1000FH.

I intend to chase larger flatties and occasion bream and whiting along estuaries and mud flats.

I was also thinking I could try this technique on shelted rocks at the beach or estuary mouths into the ocean and I thought I might pickup some smaller kingies or jewies. Maybe this is me just having a dream ;)

I dunno but Im just not sure if the Stradic 1000FH is too small? If I went back to the tackle shop and paid extra for the 2500 model would that not be balanced right to my rod?

Appreciate any help

I have the same rod withh a Diawa 2000.The winch mounting is not very strong and the reel tends to move when you have a reasonable fish on.The reel you have may fit better & will easily handle the fish your talking about.

paid extra for the 2500? dunno where ur shopping mate.. but every tackle shop ive been to.. the 1000 and 2500 retail at the same price... the 1000 will handle everything u say aslong as it has enough line on the spool.. and they arent monsters over 4kg

I was looking to get a small stradic myself , as my friend has one and it performs well.
Went in to burts tackle shop on the goldie today and they had $280 on a 2500 is that a good price. ???
