Hi guys,
Just wanting to know how you work out how much room to leave on your reel when using mono as a backing to fill with braid. I am thinking of a penn 330 for starters and filling it with 50lb- 230 metres of Finn braid. Also what gauge of mono would you use as a backing. :-/ :-*
Any tips guys.

I think it would just be trial and error for a 330, but the best way is if you have a spare spool (for an egg beater) then reel the amount of braid that you want on to the spare spool and then fill the rest up with the backing. Then take the spare spool off and reel all of that back onto the spool you will be using.

Maybe this would also work if you had another reel with the same line capacity, i am not 100% sure tho.
