Moving into a house on a canal on Gold Coast which over the years has gotten more reports about the "plague" of sharks in system.
Keen to go out in boat at night to get some.
What sort of set-up would you suggest aswell as bait. ;D

Quite often fishing the Nerang for Whiting, we'd get hammered by a bully. This was usually when we had a good whiting attached to our line. Obviously no chance of salvaging the gear or shark.

So a train of thought is, use live summer whiting.

Others have sought these critters using large slabs of Bonito, macktuna etc.

A setup would of a similar type for any live baiting or heavy duty fishing. I'd look at a reasonable overhead, 30lb plus line with a good single strand wire leader and a nice 8/0....9/0 hook. Maybe even float the bait. !

I never really targeted these creatures or intend to, but good luck, anyway.
