Does anyone tow teasers such as witch doctors for pelagics other than billfish. Say, wahoo dollies or mackeral?

Hey flick,

I just bought myself a mirror teaser (Marlin Magnet) and plan to use it whenever I troll...

I was thinking of knocking one up mick. Did you use mirrored perspex or something else. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

yeh flick i used mirrored perspex cots me 20 bucks cut to size

i made mine with a bit 4be2 then by routing out a bit at the front either side then filled it with lead so it would sink and give it a nice wobble then give it a coat of paint then i glued and screwed perspex to the side s then put a stainless eye at the front so it could be towed works like a charm and alot cheaper cost me 30 dollars

cheers mik

The 'Witchdoctor' shaped teasers work well for all pelagics, not just Marlin.

The fish sense the vibrations through their lateral line, and see the flashes quite a way off (remember a bait school will flash in the water as it turns and twists).

Do a search on CD TEASERS too.. if you really want to go down the road of homemade.. these are cheap, and effective. I ran one that I got off a lure maker a few years ago as a prototype and it was a magnet for Tuna.. in fact I stopped deploying it off Sydney as they became annoying !

I guess it all amounts to the fact that a teaser does not scare off any other fish, so, why not use one!! you do not go trolling for marlin and catch them exclusively because you have a teaser (mirrored or whatever) so it must/may attract other predators as well, sounds kind of logical to me

If you are a Spaniard fisherman sitting anchored near a reef in a good current. Put out a mirrored teaser in the current and leave it there. Keep a bait close into it as well.

In a good current with lots of sun I'll be that bait gets nailed over a long bait.

Try it.
