View Full Version : How do they measure reel sizes?

Whats a 2500 spin reel size mean? Is it 25mm/1 inch spool diameter?
So what part of a reel measures 1000, 4500 or 6500?

Is it just an arbitary sizing, or does it refer to something like the height of the whole reel?
Is it capacity of a standard line?

Im confused. This has been bugging me for ages. Someone must know.

Yep arbitrary - but the smaller the number the smaller the reel and visa versa:D !

yes it is not an exact reference rather just a guide to the reels line capacity and physical size, a 6500 in one brand will be kind of the same size and line capacity as another brand, (sort of, almost)
