Just got back this morning from a 10 day trek around FNQ visiting Hervey Bay, Hinchinbrook, Tinaroo, Awoonga.

Hervey Bay sight fishing for Golden Trevally + Tuna
No tuna. Hooked up to an estimated 8kg golden sightfishing in 2 feet of water with a Manns 5+ and 4lb line. 50 minute fight, with the fish brought to surface 4 times and me nearly being spooled 3-4 times. It got 3km across the flat into the channel and dived deep. Eventually lossed after a blistering run, then a slow steady run, then dead weight, then nothing - ?sharked. #Wes (my brother) hooks up with a clouser again in 2 feet of water. 15 minute fight. 8.5 kg golden - see pic below. Congrats Wes!

Hinchinbrook - Going for anything! Terrible tides - no lows during daylight hours! Caught small barra, queenfish, several jacks, cod etc. Missed a 1m+ barra - Damm.. Did some sightfishing out the front of the seymour - small trevellay. There were some small schools of large fish - but I couldnt get close enuf without spooking them -?Goldens, ?Permit.

Tinaroo - Awesome, Mindblowing! Fished for 2 days. 9 Confirmed Barra hookups - 2x 20-30lb, 6x40-50lb, and one monster estimated 60-70lb. Seriously this fish was giagantic, broke my 60lb jinkai with the 3rd jump. See pic below (22kg, 125cm). Trolling not effective in my usual spots, all fish from weed beds. All fish on17A #Bombers - gold, clear/silver/blue.

Awoonga - Blown out with mini cyclone (60-70km winds). One small 50cm barra, lost a 70cm. They found a dead 22kg Barra which was taken to maryborough for autospy!
