Guys
where is a good place to fish?
I live in highgate hill and I'm desperate for a good fishing spot!! Any of you guys know a good one maybe within walking distance? I don't mind walking a long way maybe 6 kilometres (i'm a real fishing enthusiast) as long as I can catch something decent for eating
cheers jack

Hi Jack....mate, the Brissy river around your neck of the woods will really only produce Catties and the odd River Whaler. May be lucky enough to score a Bream every now and then.
The trouble with the river is that the dredging upstream has caused a fair bit of damage and thats why its alway brown.

Fish that come in from the bay only use it as a transitory route to get up into the upper reaches where its still crystal clear and full of life. So as you can see, tha only fish you will get are the ones passing through, none hang here for long.

So your stuck with the area around highgate hill? Try fishing for River whalers. There heaps of fun. You can catch a few catties first and use them as livebait for the Sharkies!!! Send the livies out under a baloon and let the tide or wind carry them around. Be patient. Sooner or latter a Whaler will hit em and then just hang on!!

Hope this helps.

Regards, Randall.
