Good quality sweetlip continue to be on the bite along the shallow reef structure of Peel, Coochiemudlo and Green islands and on the rubble bottom around the Harry Atkinson Artificial reef.
There are also quality bream coming from the shallows of Mud Island with a night high tide the prime bite period.
Pan size flathead are in good numbers on the banks throughout the bay with the Amity, Maroom and Chain banks well worth a try with lures or drifting a bait.
Sand crabs continue to be in good numbers in the southern bay with the channel down the western side of Russell Island producing a lot of crabs but it is getting a lot of pressure as well.
A great weekend forecast saw plenty of boats head offshore although the easterly swell made the South Passage Bar dangerous.
Once offshore, fish were not as plentiful as anglers would have liked, you had to work hard for a feed.
Some good quality sweetlip were caught in amongst the kelp beds off Cape Moreton and there were parrot and a few squire caught off Sevens and One Mile reefs.
The water temperature is dropping but there were still a few pelagic species on the shallow ground off the Cape and Point Lookout.
There were quite a few quality jew caught from the Pin over the weekend with Kalinga Bank and the Point of Short Island the pick of the spots especially during a night tide change.
Small jew were also caught from Marks Rocks in the Logan River and in the deeper hole close in on Little Rocky Point.
Banana prawns have been almost non-existent in creeks and rivers with the better results coming from depressions and deeper holes along the bayside foreshores and around the river and creek mouths.
Best catches this week have come from around the southern end of Redbill, Lagoon and Long islands at the mouth of the Logan River.
Don’t forget that the Toyota Fraser Fishing Expo is less than a month away.
If you are planning to attend then you better get in quick because the strictly limited number of entry places are filling up.

As you can see, you don't need a big boat to catch quality fish off Fraser Island.
