Did a short section of the mid Brisbane River this arvo with a good mate Chris Barnett. Put in at Twin Bridges & went down to Savages Crossing (Fernvale area) in a Zambezi inflatable canoe.
Trip took about 4 hours at a liesurely float & flick pace. Ended up with a few average size bass landed, a few other bumps & a couple of dropped fish.
Saw alot of good sized mullet up there for those interested in chasing them.

Some of the mullet looked to be a couple of kilos.

Fitzy,

I remember floating down that stretch on a "surf mat" many years ago (early 60s). Though I wasn't into freshwater fishing at the time, I do recall thinking how great the water looked. In those days it was almost gin clear. I often wondered whether it held fish - nice to know it does.

Hi Michael,
Is usually very clear river these days & always some flow coming out of the lake. A bit dirty & some weed floating down today I recon from alot of folk swimming etc upstream at Twin Bridges.
Have seen some big bass come out of that section of river, but not today. A relaxing sunday arvo cruise after the dawn service & parade.

Cheers,

Fitzy..

Hi Anu,
Can get bass anywhere in the river near you right upto & past The Junction & up the Bremer.
Just got to put the right lure/bait in the right place at the right time. Advantage of fishing in the tidal reaches is the odd tarpon/bream will jump on the end of your line also.

All good fun,

fitzy..
