First post so take it easy on me.

Trip recently taken up at Fraser Island out of my mates 14 ft tinnie. Had no GPS marks but heard of a reef out of Waddy and Indian head so equiped with a $300 sounder out we went to find some lumps and bumps on the bottom. First drop we both scored nice grinners. Pretty exiting stuff but not what we were looking for so a bit more exploring was on the agenda.

Found a new patch and another 2 quality grinners for our efforts. Another shift and bang we were on. One after the other. Some of the most furious fishing I have done. Could not get the bait down quick enough. Bagged on Squire and got some of the biggest moses perch I have seen.

Any way defiantly going back there.

Gillie,

About 25 to 30 meters. Bottom wa pretty flat but that may have beenthe sounder or us not knowing how to read it properly!

Good fishing Goona. A lot of fisho's have probably never caught squire/snapper off fraser. Especially in close. Without giving too much away, try further north and in less water. Sound around for almost flat bottom that will have bits of coffee rock. (Yeah,I know, guys will say there's acres of this sort of country). You might be surprised at the quality of the squire you might get. Better be quick as the water is starting to get a bit warm in close for them. Did you get any red throats as they are normally in the waters you fished? :'(
