Righto it's time to get a 4B #:)
I am seriously considering purchasing new one of these two vehicles in a few months. Looking at the dual cab range and was after comments either for or against the new models ? At this stage the Nissan is ahead due to price and I am thinking about avoiding the first series of the new Hilux's #:-/. Any thoughts ?

I'll be avoiding the petrol models and going for the diesel for beach work
New Hilux figures (from their Website) Diesel 8.5L / 100 klms Vs Petrol 13.1L / 100 klms :o

I've had the navarra since about 2 months after the new model came out and I can't fault it. It drives like a car, has power to burn has never had an issue with the rough stuff. I got the petrol model which can get thirsty but the diesels are supposed to be awsome too (maybe next one will be diesel) I would definetly get another nissan.

the navara is an impressive vehicle. It has been beefed up in a big way (sort of standard stuff landies had 25yrs ago mindyou #:-X) I believe the diesel is running the previous partols engine etc - I drove one before Xmas & it turned my head - I have had a soft spot for toyotas in the past

make sure you post a report on your King O Pin efforts too BRat - i couldn't fish it this year or go to the BBQ dammit

I have preached the here elsewhere about the Navaras.

I'd like to see 8.5/100 for the Toyo ?

I run an 2002 3.0TD, and get 10.5 standard. 15/100 towing a mid sized boat around Fraser in 4wd, and 17/100 towing 2ton of Sportfish up the highway.

As said before, drives like a car, built like a tank.

If you are not able to get your ABN discount on a newbie, I am have the answer.
check your pm's

my sr5 is 2 to 3 yrs old, but keen on the new one - I just can't resist the 175kw petrol. got to have a test ride. Easiest way to cure the fuel consumption issue is to add a long range tank.

if you're paying $40,000 + for a car - you should be able to afford the fuel - that's all I'm saying. It's not the fuel consumption that bothers me, it's the range.

Gotta agree with you there.

People ask me what mileage i get out of my Prado towing my boat,,,,,,, i dont care i fill it up when it is near the "E" i did not buy it to get 10Lt/100
but some people do.

I own a 04 TD hilux 4b dualcab and i have to agree that fuel consumption is around 10l to 11l per 100kms. The Navara does have it over the hilux for towing capabilities, fuel consumption, larger fuel tank and cheaper to buy. Why i didn't buy one you might ask, i prefer toyota to nissan and the hilux holds resale value a bit better.

with the deals nissan have got at the moment its hard to go by! of course hilux is going to have a better resale when you're paying $7500 more. it will be interesting when the new navara comes out in september/october. it's just been released in canada with a new 4.0 v6 punching out 198kw :o it looks like a bigger car as well. finally some rear leg room :D
