Saturday morning saw us rise at 1.30am to head out of the Mooloolaba entrance by 3.30am. The winds were predicted to be slight of which was pretty close to the money. After a long journey out and getting there a little late, as we usually like to be on the spot anchored soaking baits by first light as this is when the snaps bite the best. The bite was a bit slow at first picking up the occasional snapper which is unusual for this spot. We caught 12 at the first location and the bite stopped so a search for further grounds was in order. After sounding around for 20mins looking for perlies were found a really good show on the sounder so down with the baits again and was rewarded with a quadruple hookup all of which were good quality of around 5kg and one as per the pics we estimated at 7kg. Another drift saw us with 2 more and the school moving on. Back to the first spot again and we snagged a couple more and the bag limit was reached. Whilst there a monster from the deep grabbed a floater that spooled my ABU 7000 loaded with 10kg. By the time we pulled the lines in from the bottom and turned the boat it was all over. Still wondering what that was! It was good to stock the freezer again as it has been 8 weeks since the last session out and will probably be another r8 before we get out again.

awesome conditions - lovely fish. Glassy like yesterday.

Good first snapper for the young fella. We fished off Mooloolaba yesterday searching for the first spaniards of the season but no luck. A few spotties and a few schoolies and anoter massive school of rat kings which turned up at the boat. Lots of turtles in the current.

Cheers

We were out there too on saturday. Had a nice day out on the water as well. Couldn't have asked for better weather after the swell dropped. Looks like you guys did well. Good on you.

Great catch there Todd. We were out there too and were gob-smacked by how good the conditions were. No snapper for us, but managed to bag out on pearlies after much hard work. Well done again.
