K,

We're heading up that way to visit family (well, I'm actually going for the fishing and using family as an excuse) early next year and am trying to find out whether a mate and I can get stuck into some barra up that way on a charter. Are you from up that way and if so can you recommend a place for us to start looking?

cheers,
g.

probably the best way to get yaself a barra would be on one of the chaters that fish the dams

the Barra session is closed till Feb..

"Throughout the Queensland east coast, a closed season applies to barramundi from midday 1 November to midday 1 February."(DPI)

Kinchent, Eungella, Peter Faust Dams all fish well at given times.

gimme an email if you would like a few names etc

nice work [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

which islands do you head out to in general? - Have a mate in Mackay who's been heading out to St Bee's/Keswick and they've been catching bugger all - long way to go for no result - any info you could pass on would be much appreciated.

as for the GT the pic does not show its size well as I am 6'3' and over 100kg should have got one of the short skinny blokes in the pic ;D. took about 5 mins to land and in about 80ft of water on an alvey 825bvc

seems there are a few big GT's of Mackay

mine was a little bigger than that.......may have to target the big boys

bloody near broke me shoulder tryin to hold the lil bugger up for pics

they go well.

i have read a story or two about big GT's up this way...so maybe the by catch is just a case of noone really goes looking for them too hard.

to busy hitting the trout and lipper i guess
