With the weather in check and some positive mid week reports from Hutchies all commitments for Saturday were either canned or put on hold.

4.00am saw us exiting Scarborough for a bee line to the grounds. 5.10am saw the first of the tremblers hit the water at the southern end of hutchies. With only 40 yards of line out we were smashed and had our first solid hookup. Not a large fish at 6kg but a nice way to open the account. The first half hour saw another 2 fish hit the deck around the 7 - 8kg mark. By this stage the traffic was like fleas on a camels back and we ventured wider in the padock.

Another fish was landed wich bought the tally to 4 by 6.30am. Going wide moved us away from the crowd and also paid divedends. A massive strike on a slimey coloured Trembler saw us 40mins later with a Black Marlin around 60 to 70kg's. Changing the factory trebles to single stainless 8/0's ment we had a solid hookup in the bottom bill.

We managed another 2 double headers for 3 fish in the boat.

Total as follows:
Strikes - 9
Wahoo - 7
Black Marlin - 1
Fish - 1 (dam shame)
Weather - Awesome.
Company - Fantastic.

9.30am and we were heading back to Scarborough for a few tinns and a cleanup. Pics will be available later this week.
All in all one of those trips you could easly rate at 10 out of 10.

Cheers,
Watto

Yeah, lovely day Watto. I was one of those at anchor on Hutchies. Plenty of traffic but only saw one hook-up. You probably did well heading wide.

cheers

Sounds like an awesome day watto! Did you see if there was much traffic in the trench or did you just head to your spot when the peak hour arrived?
Cheers

We didn't venture near the Trench Scrub to see what was happening. Although there were a bunch of boats NW of Hutchies doing laps. We didn't stay long enough in this area to see if there was any action. I believe that Malooloobah had their comp last weekend which may have added to the trafic.

Cheers,
Watto

Definately a good tally for the day with a beaky an added bonus

geez the hoo seem to be thick out there ....not much of any real size , but 6-8 kg mark makes for good tucker
