View Full Version : Barwon Banks Sat Night

06-12-2005, 04:01 PM
Headed out with sam and crew on Sempre sat arvo, conditoins were good.We were heading for our normal grounds north of the hards but a awesome electrical storm was out in the direction we were heading so a change of plan was needed.
We stopped at a spot at the top end of the barwons only to have a boat sitting on top of that mark,so another change of plan was on.
Anyway thats fishing so we anchored up fished all night for 3 fish.
At first light we moved on top of our mark and the snapper were on the chew, with for people on board we managed our 20 snapper by about 7.30 am and were looking to catch other varities.
We were quietly fishing minding our own business when the call was made "DOLLIES AT THE BACK OF THE BOAT',so for the next ten minutes it was action stations, three baits went in one fish returned.I got smashed up, sam on his handline was a sight to see but he got out gunned,
regan played the game and caught a nice fish, and jonny slept in the cabin he had the sea sick blues.
Any way great days fishing, snapper mixed reef and a
dolphin fish back at the ramp by 10.00am.
Cheers browndog :) :)

Sounds like it was bit of a slow night out there. You still managed a good feed of snapper. Seems to be plenty of them still out there. hopefully the weather will be on the mark this weekend.

I wanto get up to the hards and the northern end of the banks, but it seems a long way to go from Moolooaba. Can you tell me how far it is? or do you take the shorter route out over the Noosa bar.

geez theres been some BIG dollies being taken over the last few weeks ...another big bull ..love it !

07-12-2005, 02:25 PM
Cheers boys thanks for the comments,
Pootsy thats fishing but it may take sempre a little longer to cool down,
Billo we had at least a dozen around the boat, during the morning,
Bigcods fresh on the bbq that arvo.

Flyin tiger its only an hour and a half travel time to where we fished on the weekend well worth the effort. We usually frequent the north end of the hards which can be another hour traveling time.We leave from mooloolaba. Cheers Browndog :) :)

I think Chris may have spooked you Pootsy . But you ll be amazed how much water a 200 HP can push out tilted 3/4 up.

Westie , the boys failed to mention that it was 2 to1 on the handline. They will never own up to that . May have to get the gloves out next time!
