fished wide of mooloolaba yesterday. most of the action was wide of the banks. Only had the one marlin shot and luckily he stayed stuck...my first for the summer ;D. #found an area with plenty of mahi mahi between about 8 and 10kg's so we caught a couple for a feed.

a few shots to add..unfortunately i cant take the credit for the marlin shot, i was on the rod ;D.
enjoy.

Jeffo,

Outstanding work on the camera, though I bet the photographer wishes he/she was on the rod!!!

ryan- i cant take the credit for the shot.. but i can take it for the camera ;D one of the other crew members picked up my camera, and managed to get one of the only jumps the fish had near the boat...quick finger ;)

Jeffo,

Once again you haven't dissapointed with quality pics - simply awesome... Looks like you've trained the crew in the proper use of your camera - very cunning indeed ;) - more on-strike time for you... he he he...

Jeff

Great stuff. Glad you got amongst it, they seem to be a bit slow in your neck of the woods at the moment. Hopefully a few more will find their way into your pattern.

Great photo's. What size lens are you using for those shots. Do the digital slrs have a slow focus speed like regular digital cameras. Do you have the camera set on continous or do you try to anticipate the jump and take single shots accordingly. Also do you leave the camera on fully auto settings or do you prefer to fix an aperture or shutter speed in a manual mode.
Sorry bout all the questions just really interested.

jeremy- all manual settings. lense is 90-300. the digital SLR's are much much much faster than your normal digital. i have it set on a single shot and anticipate the jump, once you have seen a few billfish its easy to know where and when they will come up.

shane- he was only a little fella, about 20-30kg..normal size around here.

pity you were using that Canon Cr@p camera imagine what shots you could have got from a decent Nikon ;)

Hello jeffo,
we went out last monday to the banks, great day, flat + hot + no current + NO FISH worth getting out the camera for.
Was there any current out there on Friday ?
We also tried to find the fad for a dollie or two but its gone ?
Did have 3 Dollies come up to the boat over the mid banks but disappeared before we could feed them some pillies.
+ nice pics.

If it was a Nikon the fish would be at least twice as big ;) ;) ;)
