Gaday trendsetters.
well all the cards fell in to place today .
up at 3am got everything ready quick cuppa and hit the road.
i was expecting a perfect day and i wasn't disapointed.
NO wind No swell to speak of, beautifull one day perfect the next.
had a game plan and stuck to it. head toward Curran Cove and troll for a few mackeral and if the tuna were around i'd have a go at them too.
well 150 metres out of the seaway and set the lures , 2 minites later the first hookup.
i'd travelled 250 metres max from the seaway.
setup again and on again but dropped it, damb.
had 2-3 more hits without hooking up . then next keeper. these are good spotties 5.5Kg and mid 90's cm.
the spots died down as the tide peeked at around 9.30 10.
the tuna were around though. found a good school and after a couple casts, ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ ZZZZ. solid hookup and i'm running out of line fast. it was my tuna rod 4kg spin gear and the first run took the top half then after a quick rest it was off again and when i could see the end of the spool approching fast i had to give chase .
20 minites before i could plan that stubourne critter up to gaff it ( Cats gotta eat too )
got 1 more jelly bean tuna at 58cm and no real hard slog like its big brother earlier.
after i decided to head home i got 1 more hookup and the smallest of the spot for the day at 89cm and 5 Kg..
i ended up dropping 2at the boat , 1 of which i missed with the gaf twice before the hooks pulled. :-/
the other pulled the hooks before the gaff could be grabed.
had a ball .meet eco geco from here too nice to meet ya buddie. hope you did as well.
heres a few picks.
