Headed out friday lunch time for an overnight bottom bouncing trip to the North West Island area. First stop resulted in some nice sweeties, a couple of large mouth nannygai, snapper, plenty of undersize reds, & a few unstoppables. As the tide began to slow so did the fish, so we decided to move to another spot 7km north. In the next hour or so we raised some more nice sweeties, a legal red, small mouth nannygai, & some more unstoppables. It was at this time that noticed a storm front from around Bustard Head in the south all the way through to Keppels in the north slowly closing in on us. We decided to up anchor & head for the shelter of North West Island. About 4 km off the island the storm came through with 40 to 50 knot winds & horizontal rain. After a hairy 20 minutes we anchored in behind the island. Due to the weather we gave up on the fishing for the night & decided to get some rest, ready for the morning. In the morning moved to a spot not to far away & were straight into them again with a good red, a trout & some more big sweeties coming into the boat. By this time we were starting release good sweetlip to keep room for for the coral trout we were about to catch at our last stop on the way home. And the last spot didn't disappoint with another 5 trout being landed (4 of them between 5-6 kilos) & many more lost. Even caught two barramundi cod. By this time we could not fit another fish in the esky, so we decided to head for home.

Top catch. We were driving to Turkey when that storm hit and were saying we wouldn't want to get caught in it. It had a bit of wind in it thats for sure. Scared us off doing an overnighter Saturday with predictions of more storms, but they didn't come.
