This season for me, hasn't cracked up to be a good one for spotties. Only getting the odd one or two. So I decided to give them one more crack in a different location to see if I could get a couple more before the season finished. ;)

Pushed out through the GC seaway at dawn on Sunday morning and headed out with low expectations. By 8am nothing in the boat and only one touch, things weren't looking good. We then found a good showing of bait and trolled over them with two hits and one hook-up. First fish in the boat. Nice 5 kg specimen. ;D At least we're heading home with fish now.

Rigged up and went back to the same spot and sure enough double hook up and two fish in the boat. ;D ;D This continued until we ran out of pillies and head for home at about 11:30am. All in all, 9 fish in the boat and about 20 hits. Not bad for a day on the water.

Thanks Gents 8-)

Think I will have to hit them again this weekend. I got the bug again.

Lets just hope they stay around for a little while longer.

the small one in the pics looks like a doggy mackrel, how big did it go, cause those other spots are a nice plump size.

good stuff

Hey youngfisho,

I thought the same thing at first, but it is a soptty. It was the second fish caught and only went 67cm. If I knew they were going to bite so hard, I would have thrown it back to grow some more. Still tasted great.

The others were very thick. Maybe it's because we missed them on the SE Qld coast during their run South and we're now getting them on their way back North? ;)
