with a fine long weekend forecast, I thought it was time to venture out to Sykes reef for a look around, I had a work mate who had never been ofshore fishing and I promised him he would catch a trout, the day started a bit slow and I thought I was going to let him down but I was determined not to be beaten, eventually he was on to a decent fish and was casually winding up when it took off screaming to the bottom, "it feels like I only have half a fish on now!", then up pops a monster trout head.
After staring at the head for five minutes crying, I encouraged him to get back down there, within minutes he was on again to another good trout and then another, an hour later and with a few fish in the esky we made our way over to Fitzroy Lagoon. As the Night went on and Sam quenched his thirst we went to bed with slurred echo in the air "did you see those trout I caught today"
Good Job Sam.
