Hi Guys has anyone out there done much on the GT's that are meant to haunt the Nine Mile? I am keen to have a go on poppers but have not fished the area at all. Is it realistic? What time of year and is there any particular section of the reef where they are more common? Thanks

G'day Mirage The 9 mile is 4.5ml from the tweed bar 9 mile round trip. Roughly east of Cook Island. Hope this helps. Cheers Roy.

yeah, the gts on the nine range in size from fun to scary.
the biggest we`ve caught were 23.5 and 24 kg but have friends that have got em over 30kg.
Obviously the big fish should be returned as a- breeders and b- poor eating qualities.
They release well with a bit of a swim after a quick photo.
Bigger lures like 160 +190 bibs as well as slow trolled skirts work and have fond them around in the warmer months.
The smaller fish haunt the shallows and respond to poppers and slugs.
happy hunting :)
