A trip to the banks was penciled in about a month ago. Preparation was undertaken, now all we needed was the weather to co-operate and we were going to the banks.

The call was made on Friday, weather was good. Left the Mooloolaba ramp at 12:30pm headed out to the local bait grounds. Live bait was there but not biting. Managed to get half a tank of bait and proceeded to the first mark on the banks. Thanks Clint! ;) A quick drift produced one good snapper and a lot of lost bait to small reefies. The call was made to head out to the second mark, given by another mate who says that it's a very secret mark? :-X Upon arrival, there were 3 other boats and a trawler all parked around that spot. Very Secret!

A couple of drifts produced nothing and the decision was made to head back to the first spot. As soon as we got back, it was on! First drop and we were all on. Within half an hour we had a very healthy kill tank. This comintued for the next 2 hrs with quality snapper coming over the side. ;D

Squid were everywhere and one shark that wouldn't leave us alone. The switch was turned off and the bites stopped. We made our way home and were back at the ramp by 11pm.

Hey Damo,

We have paid off a month worth preparedness.
I evenly had a best offshore fishing session in S.E.
Thanks to you & the crew... I'm over fished you again ;D

Nice feed but I don't think there are any secret spots on the banks. It would have to be the most flogged piece of country in SE QLD.

Great feed there guys. Aren't those juvenile reds a picture...40-50cm seems to be the standard for the Banks. Surely they must grow up soon?

Cheers

Clint, Thanks again for those marks. Didn't have a chance to ckeck out any other marks. We had our hands full once it went dark. We will have more of a scout around next time.

smailesy, it was fairly calm. we averaged 30kn all the way out and back. Can't ask for too much more.
