Was itching to to get offshore on Saturday, as it had been a few weeks since the last trip. As planned we headed out just after midday. Collected some livies at the usual haunts. We then proceeded to the banks with a 2m swell and half metre of chop. Managed to average about 20kts on the way out and arrived on the mark in about 1.5hrs. ::)

Did a couple of drifts over some likely looking ground before putting the anchor down before dark. Things started to fire up with some nice tuskies, squire, snapper and pearlies come over the side. Also managed an undersize kingfish and a small mac tuna on a floater. :) The bite then stopped and about half an hour later I realised we had come loose and were drifting. Pulled up the anchor to discover the anchor was gone? Talk about rubbing salt into the wound. D shackle must have come loose on the way out. :'(

Tried drifting over the banks for about 2 hrs without much to show. The decision was made to head for home. The run home with the following sea was not too bad and averaged 28kts all the way home. Found it hard to hold baits on the bottom with the swell and won't be going out in conditions like that again! Left the camera in the car, had to use the phone, sorry for the quality of the pic.
