Well finally the weather turned good after 5 weeks of constant 20 knot winds. The day before saw us up trolling for spanish macks but they still havnt arrived here yet inshore so we decided to hit up one of our old spearing haunts.
With after7 still out after a knee reconstruction and my old man up from brissy (retired spearo) it was left to mne and Mick to hit the water and feed everyone.
First stop saw us in the water with about 20 metres vis which is excellent. We were here hunting spanish but with the amount of boats in the water they were staying well out of range. Plenty of small trout in the water with most on the 38cm threshold so we left them be and moved on. On one bombie I counted up to 9 trout.
Headed over the Glouster Island and started the hunt, with Mick producing good trout whilst I had stil to get my eye in. Anyway ended up with a great feedand also produced my deepest dives ever with several to 16 metres with plenty of 10 to 15 metre dives in between.
Highlights included being eyed off by a monster 30kg cod, swimming with heaps of turtles and even getting a few free rides, big manta rays, some nice sharks and my personal best tusk fish on the spear which went 7kg on the scales.
Heres a few pics
