Hey there, I thought It was time I shared a couple of pics & a few words about a fantastic place called Ascension Island.
Ascension is a small Island in the South Atlantic Ocean located between Africa & Brazil & just south of the equator.
I was lucky enough to be envited by a German friend who organised a 10 day expedition there in April/May.
Ascension is a strange yet wonderful place from its rugged lunar landscape to its cobalt blue sea.
Its one of those places that most never go as little is known about its recreational fishing potential.
Being a UK military base its harder & more expensive to travel to which helps keep the tourists to a minimum & comercial fishing is non existant.
Not having such fishing pressure really makes an impact on you the first time you wet a line. The rocky headlands & beaches are teaming with fish & it would be a real challenge to go there & not catch something.
Species such as Black Jack & Big Eye Trevally, Rainbow Runners, Amberjacks, Grouper, Trigger Fish, Tuna are but a few of the main species we caught.
We fished Landbased & from a 42' Rampage game boat during our stay & managed to catch Blue Marlin, Sailfish & Tuna upto 100lbs every day.
If you like remote locations where nature is still abundant & its off the beaten track I recomend checking this place out. Its not cheap but once you are there you wont even remember what it cost you!
Keep an eye out in the shops for a more detailed read about this trip as I have written an artical to be published soon.
Enjoy the pics & would love to hear your comments.
Cheers
