Was supposrd to go out off the Tweed today but me mate/skipper decided that the Tweed bar was not in any condition for his first ever run out that way, so we decieded to go to a spot off the GC and see if we could get a snapper or a cobia. Bait was har (read impossible) on the close bait grounds so we decieded to go to our spot and get the xos size yakkas and slimies that live out there. The fishing was slow with the bait being very scattered and at times hard to find. The final total for the day was 3 mack tuna and 2 cobia, me mates was the biggest at around 15kg (one in photo) and my cobia was around 7-8 kg (glad it was only that size as I caught it on a barra outfit and having no forgrip as such I certainly felt it) caught float lining a whole pilly down the berly trail for a red.
Cheers Ian

always impressed by the power in a cobes tail.compared to most fish a cobes paddle wins hands down.
carn't be dissapointed catchin cobes instead of reds ;)

Looks like a longboat of some description to me. I bought a 5.2m ex-commercial longboat but haven't had it out yet cos im waiting on a motor. would like to know if it is a longboat and what you think of it. Nice cobes by the way! cheers - simon.

The boat is a 5.8m southwind powered by a 100hp yammy 4 stroke, was fishing at a spot x that was given to me by a charter boat skipper. We were 7k from the seaway in 140 feet of water.

Greg I have also fished that spot in my 4.3m hornet trophy, pick your weather and make sure you let people know where you are going, when you will be off the water, and what they are to do if you are late and they are unable to contact you.

Nice cobe, looks like the conditions were OK out there yesterday. How far out did you go? I bet you had your hands filled with the cobe on the barra outfit, good work.

Good one Ian . Thought the Tweed could be a little gnarly yesterday but said nothing as I do not know what sort of boat you were going in . Greasy buggers but they eat well .
