Fished wide of Cape Moreton yesterday in marginal conditions. Left the boat ramp at 3:45am to get out there just after sunrise. There was good fish shows as soon as we pulled up on the mark. First baits in the water got smashed by 3kg snapper & a just legal squire which went back. Things went quite as the wind picked up to 20-25knots SW #:owhich made it hard to drift. Wind slowly dropped out over the next hour & fish came back on the bite. Our bag limit was quickly reached with fish to 6kg & nothing under 3kg. #;DMoved closer to the Cape to try for Sweeties. but all we could catch there was more Snapper. Rounded the Cape at 11:30 and punched back into the 20 knot SW al the way to Manly. #::)

Photos to follow.

Well done. Must be upsetting when all you catch is your bag limit of snapper that size. NOT!!!

Fantastic lot of uniform sized fish. Worth the effort in the poor conditions by the look of it.

Great catch snapperbasher, conditions didn't really sound good and you still came up with the goods :o

With a name like snapperbasher I wouldn't expect you to catch any other type of fish ;D ;D ;D ;D

Well done again, my dream is to one day bag out but first I have to catch one ;)

Peter ;)

Lochie great haul you certainly know how to catch them. Gibbo will have to change his boat name back from snapperbasher to squire prince as your the real snapperbasher now.

Nice fish there, mate. And in pretty tough conditions. What size boat do you have - just going by the pics, looks like a reasonable tinny?

hey guys, thanks for the feedback. outwide1 i was fishing in 115m east of the cape. Jamaryiz I have a 6m tinny with a evinrude 70 tiller on the back ;) it's a little bit exposed but a great fishing platform.I built it myself so it is decked out the way I wanted it but I,m getting a bit soft and thinking of selling it and buying a 5.6 barcrusher ;D. hammer I have'nt seen gibbo for a while is he still doing much fishing?.

cheers lochie

Snapperbasher

Were you out in the pressed tinnie behind you in the shot??

If so the trip back to the ramp into 20 knot SW would have been fun!!!! #:o :o :o :o :o

@rsebasher might be a better name. ;D ;D

Hey snapperbasher outwide1 here thanks for replying, top effort mate.I fish the area a fair bit up there and i think i know where you were,if it is its a very good mark that seems to produce not only snapper but some good bar cod and kingies.Feel free to pm me as i would love to talk a little more? ;)

Lochie gibbo still does plenty of fishing but catches bugger all.
He's a bit like big Kev. you only here the good reports and don't here about the bad.

If your keen he's selling snapperbasher he's upgraded to a noosacat 2700. He seems to think a bigger boat will help him catch more fish.

well done mate. last time i fished out wide i got zilch - was forced to use a huge snapper lead cause there was so much run in the water, it was like a fast-running river out there! were u usin a floater setup or bottom-basher
