Hey outsiderskip,

Noticed from a couple of previous posts you upgraded your sounder to a 585. We just fitted one to the old mans boat. How did it go? Sounds like the sharks were on the chew. :o

Well those "little men in grey suits" are more like "little men in grey submarines!" I think that last one took forty minutes before the gods of the sea released me from him. That'll teach me to use 80lb line!

New boat was great Pete. In less than ideal conditions, the big girl handled that 2-3m sea with that added surprise of 15-20 S/W wind to chop her up.

I attached a couple photos of the trek across the Bay.

Thanks for the trip out Pete!

Nice catch Pete. Glad to see the new boat ate up the conditions. Have you retrieved any of your stolen gear back yet? What a low act.

Cheers

Pete,

sounds like you worked hard for some good fish. The fish in the second photo are silver jew aren't they. Trag have a convex tail. Difficult to tell the size.

"Description
Teraglin are known to grow up to 19.5kg (130cm). They are sexually mature at 2 years of age and at 61cm. These fish are long, slender fish and have a yellowish tail, dorsal and anal fin. They are blue-purple along the back and upper sides, graduating to silvery sides and belly. A pink opalescent sheen covers the body. The inside of the mouth, the upper lip and the inside of the gill covers are bright yellow, while the tail is dark brownish-yellow tinged with green. This species is often confused with mulloway, but can be distinguished by the form of the tail. The teraglin tail always curves inwards, while that of the mulloway always curves or peaks outwards.
Habitat/distribution
Teraglin are strictly offshore fish. They can be found schooling over gravel or broken reef in depths of 20-80m. As they are reef-dwellers, their distribution is restricted. They are found off the coast of New South Wales and southern Queensland. During the night they leave the bottom to feed."

Hi Pete, nice to meet you last week. I hope those deck winches fitted ok. Did you put a new tip on one of those Wilsons rods? (Sorry about that) Hopefully you were using the winches to scull-drag them snaps up past the sharks! ;)

Cheers
