First day on the water, we were there for 3 secs and the boat was going back on the trailer, and heading off to Gladstone. They said come back in 2 days and it will be fixed. Lucky we brought extra RUM.
Did not worry too much the weather was crap. The tinnies went out the front to chase macks and cod. With only a couple of schoolies and 1 nice cod for the days effort. The news on the big boat not good. The crew of 4 had to crame into the tinnies. The weather came good and we fished the shipping channel out the front of ruds bay with great success, squire to 4kg, treva's to 6 kg, golden treva's up to 20kg, and some we could not stop. Every treva witch was brought up to the boat had at least 3 cobia following them. So treva's witch were under 2kg went down as livies the other treva's were released with about 10 kept. Only 3 cobia were kept and the others were released. Biggest cobia went 19kg. There also was a 4kg coral trout and 2 diamond treva's cought, the diamonds were released. It was a great trip we picked the big boat up the day we came home it was the f@#king power pack. Here are some pics, More will follow as we receive them.

I'm pretty sure that ginger ale can has a bit more than just that in it. Bad luck bout the boat. Always pays to take extra supplies for disasters like that. Cheers. Keith...

Sorry chicken. Must disagree with you there mate, but definitely a handsome fish. I think I'd have to drink as much rum as you and smailesy did to make you look handsome.

Thanks Keith. I had to sleep in the bed next to smailesy so I had to drink all that rum to put up with his snoring and other noises that were escaping from his boby. Apart from that it was still a top trip my first time doing that kind of fishing so it was a good way to christen the new rod n reel my wife n kid gave me for birthday , with the GT.

Great fish Smailesy,
When you say the shipping channel in Rodds Bay, were you outside the fairway marker around the anchored ships or closer to Jenny Lind bank?
Love to know what bait.

Top catch guy's.
John.
