Went on a charter on Saturday with Tom Cat thanks to a birthday gift voucher from the wife (what a darlin ;)) After some negative talk about Charters in general I was unsure what to expect, but i neednt have worried as the trip was a blast. Thanks to the Skipper Dave and his young Deckie everyone caught fish including Pearlies a small wahoo a yellowtail kingfish and three good cod, one was 1300cm long and was too big to keep but also would probably not survive even though he had his bladder deflated :( A few pigfish (i think) also made the esky. Conditions were great with a little bit of swell and minimal current to contend with. All in all I had a blast, the Deckie went flat out all day making sure everyone was looked after and showed a lot of maturity for a 16yo kid. I took home a bag of Pearlies and really enjoyed them on the BBQ last night washed down with a couple of XXXX's finest 8-) Will attach a couple of pics

I have been Tomcat 5 times now and we have always managed to get a good catch. Dave is a great skipper who knows his stuff and the deckhands are always competent and helpful. Why not try a night trip next time ? :o

Recently I went on a charter with a different operator who shall remain nameless and the deckhand got seasick :-X, yet the conditions were really good. :) Talk about someone in need of a career change. ;D

Have been on 3 trips with Tom Cat and have not been let down once. They work hard to get you onto fish and work even harder when you are onto the fish.

Sounds like a great day Scott - I was on a plane Saturday morning - the bay looked perfect and out wide better... wish I was there :-[ Nice catch and great to hear you had a good time - I too have heard some bad things about that and other operators - to each his own I suppose.

Well done anyway - look forward to your next report!!

You've done well Scott, IMO those perlies are up there with trout as table fish.

Also a little jealous of the wahoo, I havn't fished for those since I moved away from the Tweed area, I assume you got it on the troll???

Well done.

Roz thats my first time catching Pearlies and I agree they are right up there in the eating stakes with trout, the Wahoo was actually one of about six that just free swam up to the boat while we were bottom bashing. A quick scramble on the deck and out went a couple of liveys, only one Hoo made it into the boat the rest seemed to be just out for a casual swim and showed no intrest at all in the liveys :-? :-?
Hope that they are a bit ore active next weekend when we go and do it all again ;D ;D (weather permitting :-X :-X :-X)
