Our first Black on board and my wife's first bill! #You got to be happy when she wants to spend our Wedding Anniversary offshore!

We dropped another black earlier - but that was my mistake.

What time did you get the black

3:59:30pm - exactly 30 seconds before our second fallback this-can't-get-moved-again deadline ... ;D

Tough luck on the blacks. I have changed my hooks to teflons. They're sharper, thinner and teflon coated and seem to penetrate easier. They're also easier to extract and damage the fish less. You can't resharpen them, but I seem to lose them before that's an issue ...

Well done on the Hoo! I didnt see any sign of Hoo for the whole day.

Congrats on the black Liberty. Great way to spend the wedding aniversary...as they say, a family that plays together stays together. ;)

If you don't mind me asking, did you get him along the trench wall, or over toward hutchies?

We where trolling a mixture of line classes on friday.
I have sl12s gamakatsus on my smaller pakulas and have mustard on my larger ones.
When the black came up on the flat seemed like he bill whacked it then went to the other did the same.
He sat on top for a sec them cruised off, didnt seem to aggressive.
Thats fishing.
Im going to order some of the katanas off wayne in the near future.
Are you runing a single hook or double hook rig?
Hope you didnt get to hammered out there yesterday.

Cheers Troy

Nah yesterday (Sat) was ok weatherwise, but really quiet fishing. #We only got a YFT and no sight of bills ....

And I'm running mostly double teflons - changing over from singles and stainless hooks. I have had less drop rate on the teflons.

Oh and we had a mixed day yesterday. Picked up a nice Sail in the Trench first up but the Winder dropped it. Got another good hit by a Dollie north of Hutchies mid-morning but it snapped the 15kg braid - note to self - stop using jigging gear on Shotgun lures ... Finished up with a small YF back in the Trench on the way home.

We spend a few hours outside of Hutchies down to East of the Cape and there were certainly Blacks getting caught, but there were a lot of boats out there to divide them up ...

Anyone know what happened to the Hoo? Everyone was complaining about *lack* of "bycatch" ...

And the swell yesterday was huge - depending on where you were some of those were over 4m from trough to crest. You could stand on the gunwhales and the wave height was still another metre about you. We came home surfing down the waves and doing cutouts at the bottom - on a 26' boat ...

Anyway here's a shot of the Sail...

Oh, I think I saw that lovely boat coming back western side of moreton a few week ago? very nice colour and looks to be motoring along also. We were in a white NC about 500m SB of you heading south.

Hi Liberty,

That is a great looking boat you have.

You and I are often side by side around hutchies.

Hi Frank OO,

What's your boat name? Give us a yell on VHF21 - call sign Liberty. We're out tomorrow if you're around.
