A regulatory impact statement (RIS) has been issued for public comment by the Qld DPI and Fisheries re: the decision to allow commercial netters to take 120 tonnes of tailor per season - pending public approval.

It is important that as many of us as possible send in a RIS. With a similar lot of submissions made to the government recently on another issue, the government went with majority rules. Even though about 5 groups like Sunfish put in submissions representing the 880,000 recreational anglers in Queensland a group of commercial fisherment got together and put in about 10 submissions. Because it was about 10:5 the government went with the majority even thought it was 880,000 to ????.
