Was after some info on the Weir , Incase the b/water area is crowded.
1. Can u get a boat up to it
2.Or is it strickly l/based fishing area
3. If u can get a boat up there what the best route, thru all
those bloody canals
4. have read some info on it, I believe runout is the best time
to try.
5. Can u fish the weir itself or is it outbounds
Any help appreciated, and i would say lives or lures the best

Webby, got a mate who fishes up that way. Have`nt got a clue about how to get there but I am told that Security will move you on if caught in the restricted area.

Apparently, boat access is impossible. You have to leg it in.

Thats about all I know mate.

Randall.

have read a few reportson it, but cannot think where i saw it.
they reckon fishing the out going has trememdous results
but looks like i'll have to find some other place, was only going up there for a bit of fun. Will have to camp in the seaway for the nite. i like me boat better then walking
anyway something mite cum up.

webby, i have never fished the bond uni weir but have watched a few guys doin it. from what i saw, the high tide would de the time to fish it as this is when the weir gates open to let water into bond uni lake. most people seem to stand on the weir and hold slugs in the flowing water - chasing trevally (and queenfish?). i have also seen guys fly fishing from a small boat down from the weir (Lake Orr).

to access it by boat (from the seaway) you would come down the nerang river, go under the monaco street bridge and follow the highway, past the casino, past pacific fair and continue south as far as you can go. this would take you near a narrow canal that goes to the AIS canoe/kayak training facility - from there it is under the bridge. this would take you to the "high" side of the weir.

i know the fishing is good on the high tide when they release the water, i don't think they release water out of the lake at any time? i see plenty of people fishing the bridge area around the weir as the tide can flow fairly fast here (the lake is quite large).

as i said earlier, i have never fished here, this is only what i have observed/read. i hope this is of some help
