POPPERS IN THE SURF

Can anyone recommend a brand of popper for use in the surf at night. I'm thinking of trying something new on those bright moon nights when the tailor get a bit picky & would appreciate the thoughts of anyone who has had some success.

Chris are you after a popper that floats or sinks?

Probably one that floats or is neutrally bouyant so it provides a silhouette against the moon. As I said, I've never "popped" for tailor at night, I've only heard second hand about guys that do it around the Tweed region at night. I usually use bait at night & Raider lures at dawn/dusk but don't know if the speedy retrieve needed with a raider would work at night.

We make floating poppers that weight about 3 oz's, have a high flash pearl body and a glow in the dark front end so you can see the popper tip at night. Whewn stationary, they sit upright like a pencil float until you start to work them.

We make them as a specialist lure for anglers in North Carolina who use them in the surf for Striper Bass, Bluefish (Taylor) and Jack Crevalle (Trevally). They also do well here in our tropics on queenies etc.

Thanks for your call Chris. As mentioned, they are seasonally made for US anglers most of the time. I have ordered some more material in and will let you know when we have a few made up so you can take a look.

That will be about two weeks away I suspect based on our current order load. It's Striper Bass, Bluefish (Taylor), Halibut, Cod and Tuna season elsewhere in the world, so I will make up a couple in the gaps and when time permits.
