Curious to the age limit on the board. As today young can teach old and old can teach young.
cheers

I'm not sure I'm interested in an ago poll, just too old to bother. http://www.ausfish.com.au/chat/images/smilies/cwm3.gifIn any case you quit in the young group, http://www.ausfish.com.au/chat/images/smilies/cwm17.gifwhich you call old, 45 is not old, it is just out of nappies, probably still get their ass wiped by mum, http://www.ausfish.com.au/chat/images/smilies/cwm35.gif http://www.ausfish.com.au/chat/images/smilies/cwm35.gifdrink out of white bottles and sit in chairs with little tables and wear bibs.
I'm bloody near twice that. Get real mate there are a huge number of grown ups out there, bloody kids. Max http://www.ausfish.com.au/chat/images/smilies/cwm16.gif

just too old to botherIn any case you quit in the young group which you call old, 45 is not old, it is just out of nappies, probably still get their ass wiped by mum, maybe I didnt explain myself well enough here Max. It seems the go at the moment is for the the younger generation and the older generation to get together and help each other..but geeze with an attitude like yours no wonder there is crime within the younger generation eh..maybe you should take time out to help the youngsters learn to fish and use their time better
Get real mate there are a huge number of grown ups out there, bloody kids we are all young at heart and all learn by the older generation, but with bad attitudes of the old the young follow eh

I think you need a 50+ to spread your stats better. Us oldies (although we think we are pretty young) obviously dominate the fishing nos.

Like a lot other things people often quote completly out of context, and have very little sense of humour. It is interesting though that a great number of fly wofflers in this place are retired or so close to it, the CES are preparing the papers.
Actually is a pretty selective poll, if you are under 45, if you are over, who cares but just say, older,
What the hell is that going to tell us, that people under 45 outnumber "olds". It might be informative, if you extended the top end a bit, for the current "younger" generation. to discover just how many "olds" there are out there.and what their ages really are. Might wake a few out of their delusional livestyle.
Sorry about that, more funny humour. Max

PS By the way, I'm not adverse to fishing with kids, done so for 30 or more years, Starling was one I fished with when he was a hell of a lot younger. I had a mate who was 14 and fished SWF like Lefty Kreh. Max

In defence of oldies -
age can be a state of mind.
Whenever I'm asked I tell them I'm young enough to do it and old enough to do it properly. For years I've hung out and fished with younger people. They make better gofors, and
with youthful enthusiasm, learn faster. My main learning years were helped incalculably through the interest and patience of elders taking me under their collective wing.
Unlike boxing, tennis and football, fishing is an activity where peaks are reached later in life rather than sooner. And with more lines in the water thesedays in search of less fish (in an overall sense) many of the opportunities that were around for the older generation are simply not there anymore.
An interesting slant to that dynamic is that with fish like
yellowtail kings, yellowfin tuna, sailfish, snapper, Spanish mackerel, mulloway, Murray cod, Niugini and spot-tail bass, river dwelling bass and barramundi the young Turks will, statistically, never catch up.
Not all oldies join the bowling club; some are still found
by a beach or riverbank, death-grip on rod.

I'm one of the 35yr old's in the poll. How do you all think I feel;neither here nor there?Too old to be a kid,too young to be a gereatric! As quoted elsewhere, you're only as old as you feel.I have no problems fishing with young(2 kids of my own),or the old(still take my dad and grandpa). As long as you enjoy yourself!Great site, think this poll has opened up the proverbial"can of worms".
Until next time...

You may notice that on the bottom of the main page it will list on a daily basis those members who are celebrating a birthday, it also states their age. For those that have entered their date of birth in their profile.

If you click on the Calendar at the top of the page http://www.ausfish.com.au/chat/images/newcal.gif you can go through and see the who is celebrating a birthday on any given day. I have also added some events and competition dates to the calendarl. Members can also add events and competitions to the calendar.

Like harro said before Jezza fishing is a sport where old and young alike can participate beside each other. I personally beleive that fishing keeps one feeling fit and young. When I was fishing for a living down Broomes Head there was a guy down there 83 yrs old..he used to row the net boat out around schools of mullet..out rowed the younger guys..he was fantastic and the knowledge I gained from him through talking over a few beers...was unbelievable..

As we " older " fishoes know, you are only as old as the woman you feel. :o

That'll go into the editing room, eh Steve ?

Fishing is an ageless sport, pastime, hobby etc etc. My youngest daughter caught her first Bream at 2 1/2 years and my oldest ( 17 ) still wants me to take her fishing. ( givin boys, etc to distract her )

I still love a good nights fishin, although I seem to catch more Z's these days. :D

Fishing is so relaxing, it is sumed up in a Joke ( with a moral ), I heard a long , long time ago.

An old Ram and a Young Ram standing at the top of a hill, overlooking a paddock full of Ewes. The Young Ram says " lets run down there and "service " all the Ewes". The Old Ram says, " let's walk down, we've got all night ".

I think most of you will get my drift here. ??? ;D
