Major commercial exports are reportedly worth $300 million to Qld. this is prawns, scallop meat, spanner crabs,reef fish especially coral trout..the rec fishermens contribution is worth at around $300 mil a year with fish being taken worth and estimated $24 mil a year paid on equivalent prices for commercial fishers..for an average of 800,000 fishermen. All this for the rec that harvests an estimated 8,500t of finfish, prawns and crabs..however they quote the commerical fishers harvesting, 24,000 thousand tonne a year...and yet the recs wear the bag limits which i also beleive should be imposed on the pros..do some division and see what you come up with $$ per tonne for the rec fisher..its mind blowing..here is the report
