george,
do you have a bicycle shop in town? I've been using a product called Trilube (an oil with a teflon additive) & a Lithum based bearing grease used for racing bicycles on my reels for a couple of years & it seems to work well. When you think about bicycle componentry (brass, aluminium, stainless & the seals etc) are all very similar to materials in reels, are exposed to the elements & work at similar speeds & compressions. I don't know the experts/manufacturers opinions but my stuffs still going strong, baitcasters, spinning reels & alveys.
cheers,
chris

George,
Just get in contact with Jack Erskine. He'll post you some of his grease.
